Apple greenlights display production for iPhone 16 Pro

Samsung Display and LG Display have received permission to mass produce OLED screens for future Apple iPhone 16 Pro models, reports the Korean publication The Elec.


Both vendors apparently received approval earlier this month, paving the way for the start mass production of screens for ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ models. While Samsung Display will supply OLED screens for all four iPhone 16 models, LG Display will exclusively supply screens for the Pro models. In addition, BOE is expected to help supply OLED displays for the ‌iPhone 16‌ and ‌iPhone 16‌ Plus.

This development is especially noteworthy for LG, which has historically struggled to meet Apple's production deadlines. Last year, LG Display received approval for iPhone 15 Pro OLED screens a few months after Samsung Display, allowing Samsung to increase its market share and secure higher prices.

Samsung Display is expected to go through the approval process for the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ The Max's OLED screens will arrive by the end of this month, while the LG Display will arrive in mid-June. Samsung Display has now received approval for the ‌iPhone 16‌ and ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌, with Plus and Pro Max models to follow soon.

The Elec claims that the differences between the OLED displays of the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ are minimal, but the bezels can be a little thinner thanks to Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology. All ‌iPhone 16‌ The line is expected to launch in the fall.
