40% of iPad users keep their device for 3 years or more, what about you? [Vote]

We've just seen a new study from CIRP that says a growing group of iPad owners are holding onto their tablet longer than ever before updating it. . And you? We're wondering how long you go between iPad purchases?

In case you missed it, CIRP data showed an increasing trend in the iPad ownership lifecycle.

Notably, the percentage of users waiting 3 years or more has increased since 2022 from 28 to 40%. And those who would upgrade in 1-2 years went from the largest share – from 34% in 2022 to 25% in 2024.

Many comments in this post reflect a preference to wait 3 years or more for updates . And the most popular comment from user “Null” was:

I upgraded from iPad 3 to iPad Pro (1st generation ) on the iPad Pro M1.

I don't see the point in upgrading frequently since the hardware is designed to last and the OS features don't take advantage of the new hardware.

Hopefully my M1 will last I'm still 3 or 4 years old.

Poll: How long do you wait for iPad updates?

What about you? Are you in camp for 3 years or more? Or not?

We'll keep the same time frame as CIRP and share more details in the comments about why you like to keep your iPads for this long!
