Both new models were available for pre-order on May 7, the day they were announced, and shipped today. , Wednesday 15.
Unlike some new Apple products whose delivery dates start to slip shortly after pre-orders open, you can still get first-day delivery for some time.
Checking a few of the many places now, it looks like you still won't have to wait long to get delivery even if you order today. For example, in London, same day delivery is available within two hours (for £8). Based on testing of a number of US locations and configurations, suggested delivery dates ranged from May 17 to May 20.
But if you live within driving distance of an Apple Store, you can order online and pick it up the same day in every location we tested.
Unsurprisingly, the main exception is when you want one of the nanotextured glass models. Apple probably doesn't have a clear idea of the likely demand for these, especially since the matte screen is only available on the 1TB and 2TB models, so they're probably making them to order. For these, we usually specified the period from June 10 to 17.
But for standard glass, even the 1TB and 2TB models are available immediately.
