The “new” HomePod and HomePod mini will go on sale in Malaysia and Thailand.

Apple announced this morning that it is expanding the availability of HomePod and HomePod mini. Bookings will begin in Malaysia and Thailand for the first time. . The devices will begin shipping next week, May 10. This opens up possibilities for HomePod mini and a “new” device. HomePod (2nd generation) to a whole new market of buyers.

Update: Apple will also release HomePod 2 and HomePod mini in Turkey on May 10th. Pre-orders are now available. .

HomePod offers extensive integration with Apple Music, providing a Siri-powered smart speaker experience. And with Matter compatibility, HomePod can become the hub of your smart home using HomeKit and the Home app. HomePod can also be connected to Apple TV and used as TV speakers.

‘new’ HomePod is a second-generation model released early last year that was almost identical to the model released back in 2018. HomePod mini was released in November 2020. There are no physical changes or upgrades to speak of; it's simply expanding into additional geographic markets.

However, the belated launch in these new regions may signal that the products are far from past their sell-by date. If you're waiting for the new HomePod, you may have to wait a little longer.
