Apple Announces New Immersive Video for Apple Vision Pro Coming April 19

On April 19, Apple will debut the second short film in its “Prehistoric Planet Immersive” series for Apple Vision Pro users.

Apple included several immersive video capabilities with the release of Apple Vision Pro in February. These are 180-degree 3D videos shot in 8K, which sets them apart from both the 3D movies available on the device and the “Spatial Videos” that users can create with a headset or iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max.

In the original immersive video film Prehistoric Planet, several pterosaurs encountered juvenile tyrannosaurs on a rugged ocean coast. The new film, running about six minutes like the previous one, tells the story of a curious baby Triceratops who learns about family ties deep in the forest.

The teaser is available in the TV app in Apple Vision Pro.

This is only the second new immersive video experience Apple has released since Vision Pro launched in February. The other was a five-minute “highlighter spot” for the 2023 Major League Soccer season.

The initial batch of immersive videos included four short films: “Adventure,” “Wild Life,” “Dive into a Prehistoric Planet” and “Alicia Keys: The Rehearsal Room.” Also included at launch was an interactive, immersive experience called Dinosaur Encounter.
