Former UPS worker allegedly stole and resold approximately $1.3 million worth of Apple goods from a Winnipeg warehouse for six months .

An investigation into his bank accounts revealed that cash deposits totaling more than $232,000 were made between September and January. Search warrants also revealed $9,000 in cash in a Nike bag in his MacBook car and more than $9,100 in jewelry.

It is also alleged that proceeds from the sales were also used to purchase a home in the South Point area of ​​Winnipeg for $630,000 and to pay off debt associated with a white Audi worth $60,000.

At the time of his arrest, he was charged with theft over $5,000, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of proceeds of crime. way. He later admitted to stealing Apple products and jewelry in a taped police interview.

The court filing asks the judge to allow the seizure of the home, car, cash and bank accounts.

The amount of charges is one of the highest associated with the theft of Apple products.

In 2012, an employee at JFK Airport was arrested for stealing 3,600 packs of iPad minis worth $1.9 million. In 2017, a Walmart distribution center worker was charged with stealing more than 1,000 iPads and 942 packages of Apple Watches, which he hid in trucks before shipping them to himself via FedEx.
