New emoticons have been added to the beta version of iOS 17.4: bobble head, lime, phoenix, brown mushroom and others

The iOS 17.4 beta released today introduces new emoji symbols, including lime, edible brown mushroom, phoenix, broken chain, vertical head shake (as in nodding “yes”), and shake. head horizontally (shaking head “no”).

These symbols are part of the Unicode 15.1 update, which was approved in September 2023.

There are also four new family emoji combinations, as well as updates for six people, which now have directional characteristics such as “facing right” or ” face to face.” left. This is a smaller update than we have we usually get, with fewer emoji characters, but that's because it's a Unicode Consortium .1 update and not a major update.
